As the fundamental goal of human beings, people never stop their pursuit for happiness or well-being. In order to promote well-being, multiple countries have launched national well-being strategies. However, neither these strategies nor scholars tend to regard the self-employed as one homogeneous group, failing to identity the heterogeneity among entrepreneurs. As economic environment goes extremely turbulent and complex, more and more entrepreneurial activities are carried out within organizations, known as intrapreneurship, which features distinct characteristics with traditional independent entrepreneurship. In this study, based on agency theory and evolutionary theory, we discuss the fundamental differences between intrapreneurship and independent entrepreneurship and further suggest these differences may lead to distinct levels of well-being. Moreover, building on institutional theory, we examine the institutional boundary conditions of the impacts of intrapreneurship on well-being including political institutions, market institutions, and culture.

主講人簡(jiǎn)介

Jinxin Liu is a doctoral candidate at the School of Management Xi’an Jiaotong University. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from fall 2017 to fall 2019. His primary research interests include strategic entrepreneurship, smart product development and management, and marketing strategy in emerging markets. His research has been published in journals such as International Small Business Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, and Technology Analysis & Strategic Management.
